The Full Story
Who is Makhi Davis?

Background
Makhi Davis, born and raised in Chicago, IL, developed a deep passion for architecture at a very young age. His fascination with the city's iconic skyscrapers, along with his extensive LEGO collection and understanding of design, sparked a lasting love for construction and architecture. Makhi's journey into the field began as early as 2017, when, at just 12 years old, he enrolled in his first architecture program. Since then, he has committed himself to deepening his knowledge by participating in at least three different architecture programs each year throughout Chicago. His involvement with organizations such as I-NOMA, AIC, SAIC, Project Pipeline, UIC, and AIA has set him apart from his peers and continues to fuel his passion for the built environment.
Education
Little did Makhi know how profoundly Prairie View A&M University would impact his architectural journey. In 2023, just after graduating from Kenwood Academy High School, Makhi seized the opportunity to earn an architecture scholarship and enroll in the accelerated program at Prairie View’s School of Architecture. This program has provided him with not only excitement and hands-on experience but also significant personal and academic growth. It is also set to reward him with multiple degrees, further shaping him into a thoughtful, intricate, and exceptional problem solver.

Internships
Makhi Davis never passes up an opportunity—especially when it comes to internships. His first paid internship with Wheeler Kearns Architects provided him with invaluable insight into the architectural development process. What he appreciated most was the firm’s intellectually diverse and welcoming environment, which encouraged open ideas and supported students across various experience levels. Currently, Makhi is focused on establishing and perfecting his personal brand as he prepares to solidify his presence in the architectural "big leagues."
